All the pro-housing friends from Rise Up Town gathered on this rainy December day to hear and talk about Yes! in My Back Yard issues in SD.

I was thrilled and honored to receive the CirculateSD “Momentum Award” for advocate of the year, on behalf of Rise Up Town. Clint and Kyle shared that honor — because it was truly a group effort.
A warm and sunny few days hosting Luke and Eun-ju here in San Diego. I got to hit one of my “to-do” spots: the USS Midway aircraft carrier parked in the harbor. Luke and I did a flight sim thing — and totally failed. Haha. Continue reading “Luke and Eun-ju visit me in San Diego”
Whew, it was hot. But the natural settings for the animals were amazing. Continue reading “A day at Safari Park”
We got some milkweed and then hoped a momma Monarch would lay some eggs. Sure enough, we had 6 caterpillars appear. We got a cover for the plant so they’d be able to metamorphosize without getting eaten by birds. So beautiful to see them hatch and fly away. Continue reading “Breeding some Monarch butterflies”
Darryl brought some fun extras from his Easter bonnet down to us. Ghost got to enjoy them, and then Celeste. Continue reading “Darryl’s Easter visit”

I was a central organizer for the Safe Lanes on 30th Ride. A tremendous turnout: over 300 riders of all ages and abilities. Just like we want to see on these streets every day. Continue reading “Safe Bike Lanes on 30th Street”
A rare chance to catch my old friend Ira Sachs on the West Coast. Continue reading “Catching up with Ira”
I spent months organizing and gathering fellow pro-housing and pro-biking neighbors to run for seven open seats on our community planning group, called “Uptown Planners.” It was a sweet, sweet victory. Our slate of 7 candidates swept to a resounding victory. One of the top moments in my life, that night. Elation! Continue reading “Rise Up Town election victory”
Walking our streets and talking to neighbors with our candidates for Uptown Planners, 2019. Continue reading “Neighborhood walk with Rise Up Town”
Got to see Darryl while he was down in SD. Continue reading “BikeSD meet up for coffee”
My wonderful niece Anne came down to SD to see some old college pals and just see the old town. We went down to Old Town for tacos, hiked Torrey Pines, and caught up on the couch. Really fun time.
Joined the fun at the opening of the new public library just two blocks from our condo. Ran into Matt there with his kids. Another bright SD morning. Get the sunglasses.
Darryl and I took the ferry to Coronado with my two bikes in tow. Lovely regatta out there as we crossed the harbor. Light was intense but the temps were pretty cool. We ate some tasty Greek food just before biking home. Continue reading “New Years biking over the water with Darryl”
Here’s shots from when we first got the place.
